Restoule, Ontario, Canada
In 1988 Gregory Cromwell followed his dream of “owning his own lake” and found a beautiful secluded property in the Far North of Ontario. This is the place Greg’s Great Grand Father Lester loved to visit for annual fishing trips back in the 1940s.
In the summer of 2000, Alison and Greg packed up from city life in Toronto to realize their dream of living off the land. Since moving to Australia, the cabin has continued to be enjoyed by family and friends. If you are interested in spending some time at the Lake, contact greg@cromwellfarms.com
Fishing and Hunting Cabin for Rent
No matter what time of the year, you can count on quality and quiet time back at Porter Lake. The cabin is fully insulated, and our big wood stove does a great job of keeping the place cozy. Don’t be surprised if you have to open a few windows, even when it’s 20 below outside. The cabin is screened in, so no matter what the bugs are doing, you won’t be bugged inside–as long as you keep the doors shut. Water is readily available, and we have a 40 gallon barrel in the loft for gravity feeding–even in the winter. If you are interested in getting away from it all, Porter Lake is the perfect place for you.

Heh Greg…great to see this. I should share some of the great pictures that I took during the few years I was able to get up there. I do hope to work with you in the future to use this property again…it is the place where I most enjoy being.

PS: great blogs and twitters on the farm…keep it up dude.
Hi Kevin. Thanks for the nice feedback. Porter Lake is ready for you to make a come back. Anytime. Just let the Learns know so we can book you in.
Hey Greg,
Had no idea you still had this place and I would be very interested in renting it some time – is it accessible in winter as well? Not that I am thinking I want to go in winter, but I have always wanted to try that out sometime. Can you provide me with some details? Cost? What I would need to bring up? Availibility? Etc.
thanks, Deb
Happy Birthday Deb. When do you want to go up? Chris Johnson and his family are at the Lake now until the New Year. You are welcome to go up anytime after that and we can arrange for the cabin to be warmed up and water pumped into it. Want to have a go at ice fishing? cheers Greg
