After my last post I thought I would check up on the birds and the bees of Dexter Cattle Breeding. Below are some often cited figures on Dexter Cattle cycle and gestation times.
Cycle Time-which means the time of the month when the heifers are ready for the bull: Every 21 days but like most things in life its not an exact science so you should allow for a couple of days on either side of this bench mark.
Gestation Period–translation from conception to dropping the calf. 9 months. Of course this will vary a little from cow to cow and from pregnancy to pregnancy. 276-290 days.
