Eby onto Green Pastures

One of the pleasures of being heritage breeders is having animals that keep on giving. It seems like yesterday we bought our first milking machine and a couple of Dexter Crosses with good milking traits. That was at least four years ago. I can still taste the cold can of Steam Whistle that Peter Learn proudly pulled out of his luggage after flying over to give us a hand on the farm from Canada. A bit of a random memory that has come back to me. Good Ole LP got off the plane and then we were on a mini road trip to pick up cattle and the milking machine.

Today Alison and I with the help of our Kelpies loaded Eby up to move to Greener pastures down the hill in Myocum. A lovely family was keen on a quiet Dexter that they could have a go at milking. It is so nice to know your animals are going to a safe and happy place where they will be loved and serve a purpose.

This sale was a real family team effort. Morley has taken out a few ads on gumtree to sell some of her steers and heifers. That’s how they found us. Aubrey’s great record keeping helped us present our cattle professionally. The Kelpies helped us bring the steers up from the Little Creek. I could go on but just wanted to get his transaction and story into our journal.
