We are looking forward to our 8th Bluesfest working with Di from Greenfest Solutions to reduce, reuse and recover as much as possible at the 30th Bluesfest. This year we are working with Bangalow Sign Co as well to improve our recovery efforts via some great signage to encourage people to reduce, reuse and recycle. […]
Piglets have finally arrived. Definitely not a phantom pregnancy Farm Hand Bandhu. It has seemed like she has been pregnant and ready to drop for most of this year. But they are finally here. Our best guess is that this is her a dozen litters or approximately 100 piglets. Heritage breeds longevity and productivity too […]
Pleased with this timing. Thanks BOM for such an accurate forecast. Alison put out 200 kgs of Oats (Thanks Farmer Jay) in our front paddocks on Tuesday. I followed up with a low and slow mulch and mow on our Toro. We let the pigs back out and yesterday we got some nice rain with […]
Congratulations to our dear friend Jody Vassallo on the success of her Farmer Cookbook Community Project. You can get a sneak peek at our feature in the Farmer Cookbook and if you like how it looks and how the food smells you can buy it from our shop. Stories and recipes from the land. […]
Our first coffee trees in early 2016. Over 50 trees went in a few locations on the farm. There were two varieties put in K7 and Cataui. We are now down to about 30 trees due to early losses from livestock and other factors.
The one nice thing about being your own client in the branding and marketing world is that you don’t have to be precious about protocol. Well at least that’s how we roll. Have a look at the new look that Jules Goodwin has on a roll for us. Serendipitously this new look has a familiar […]
Lucky us. Look who is going to dig in and help us with our websites. Meet Digby Hildreth, a local boy who is pretty good at writing and taking pictures. Here are some links to some articles Digby has written about our farm and we are looking forward to him following us around and writing […]
Times are a changing. After a review of our telecommunication needs Alison and I decided landlines are not for us. You can no longer, not that we ever answered it, reach us on the landline in the farm house, house shed or top shed. At this point, we are going to keep our mobile phones. […]
About to get stuck into some Ginger Harvesting for a new customer. Have an order for 72 kg’s of it to go along 6 kg of oranges, pumpkins. Look for our produce at the Paddock Project on the way out of Mullumbimby.
Read before you sign and support of course. Thanks for taking the time to pass this on Johno. Cromwell Farms loves the sound of this and are keen to do what we can to keep our families farming in the Byron Shire. I’m no Jaques Pepin but I learned from the best crepe maker I know. My Mum. Now I am teaching my daughters how to make Crepes like my Mum.
Heritage breeds happiness at Cromwell Farms and we are excited to have discovered there is a Heritage Breeds Week in Australia. Here is a link to a photo competition they are running. http://rarebreedstrust.com.au/public/pages/2018-photo-comp-rules We’ve entered a few competitions for our cattle and had a go at the Mullumbimby Show Girl. Now its time to show […]
Ever tried to brand yourself? Let me tell you it’s not easy and the idea of putting a red hot branding iron on your backside feels a bit less painful. In our previous blog we put a challenge to our daughter Aubrey who is handy both on a horse mustering and with a pencil drawing. […]
With our focus on heritage and family, it seems like a good idea to add a bit more of this into our farm brand. Quietly the old saying about bootmakers children is a bit true about the state of our branding, design and digital goodness. This blog post is my way of briefing our in-house […]
A big shout put to Diana Hartung and her team at Greenfest solutions for another great Blues festival. Best fest so far in terms of efficiency, organic waste collection and most importantly fun. Here is a summary of our organic waste diversion and experience. Greenfest Solutions has the Blues Festival Organic Waste recovery was well […]

Our family wishes you all the best for 2018. What will this year bring us? Perhaps some guidance can be found in Chinese New Year. In Chinese astrology, each year is related to a Chinese zodiac animal according to the 12-year cycle. 2018 is an Earth Dog Year. Years of the Dog include 1934, 1946, […]
