One of the many joys of raising and breeding farm animals are the people you get to meet. Judy Barnet who we bought our Large Black Pigs from is a prime example. From the first time I spoke to Judy and then eventually meeting her and buying our first Large Blacks she has been so helpful. This morning I called her to get some advice on how to treat one of our pigs that is not standing and she steered us in a sensible direction.
Judy also let me know about rendering fat. We have been loving the fat that comes off the Large Black bacon and Alison secretly let me know she has been using it in allot of her cooking as a replacement to Oil and butter. Here is a recipe on how we can take our fat to the next level. Thanks Judy.
