Self Seeding Rock Melons

This rockmelon (or as the Canadian’s would say Cantaloupe) is almost ready to pick and eat with the juices running down your chin!!!

And really, no one did anything to get it, and the other 8 or 9 growing from the same patch, there.

We can only guess that it self seeded from the fantastic Green “Waste” we collect every day from Woolworths to feed our pigs. They just love it.

A bit of Latin to finish this off.

Melon

Cantaloupe refers to a variety of Cucumis melo, a species in the family Cucurbitaceae. Cantaloupes range in weight from 0.5 to 5 kilograms. Originally, cantaloupe referred only to the non-netted, orange-fleshed melons of Europe. Wikipedia
