Herding, hosting, having a good time…
Cromwell Farms began when we bought a 16-hectare block in Goonengerry, NSW, over twenty years ago. Starting simply with a few chooks, Cromwell Farms now comprises two individual farm properties (in Goonengerry and Glenugie, NSW), a herd of Dexter cattle, heritage breed pigs and chickens, horses, kelpies, plus a citrus orchard, fruit trees and a market garden.
With the help of our three daughters, Aubrey, Morley and Bella, we began regenerative farming practices with a focus on pasture-raised, rare heritage breeds. As the girls grew up and moved on to their own adventures, we wanted to be able to share the beauty of the farm and the land with others.
Cromwell Farmstays and Getaways was born.
We’re excited that we now share our unique, pet-friendly properties with people looking to explore the wonderful regions within Northern NSW. Our Farm House and Middle Shed in Goonengerry and Glenugie Station in Glenugie all offer different accommodation options to suit a variety of group types or budgets. A little further afield, we also offer a wood cabin in Restoule, Canada – another special family holiday spot, right on Porter Lake, that we wanted to share with others.
If you think any of our properties could be just the place for your wedding or special event, please don’t hesitate to reach out – we’re always happy to chat outside of the Airbnb parameters.
We know that a holiday is something special and want your time spent with us to be relaxed, comfortable and thoroughly enjoyable. We hope to host you soon.
When we’re not feeding the pigs and herding cattle, you’ll most likely find Alison caring for and riding her beloved horses and Greg building a new shed, peddling boots or busy with his new venture at Devine Quality Meats in Mullumbimby. Most of all, we love catching up with our girls and spending time as a family.
With many thanks,
Greg & Alison Cromwell

Why Cromwell Farms?
Our goal is to create a place where people can slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience genuine country life.
Does this sound like you?
Nestled in the Byron Bay hinterland of Northern NSW, our farm stay accommodation blends rustic charm with modern comfort, offering guests an authentic taste of rural Australia. Whether you’re waking to mist over the paddocks, or watching the sunset from the veranda, every moment here reflects the rhythm of the land.
Our family has poured years of passion into practicing regenerative agriculture – farming in a way that restores soil health, improves biodiversity, and gives our animals the freedom to roam. We’re proud to raise heritage-breed livestock, including our Dexter cattle and heritage pigs, chosen for their gentle nature and exceptional quality. These animals are an important part of preserving traditional farming methods while nurturing a more sustainable future. It makes us more connected to the land, each other, our food and community.
Guests are welcome to explore the property, meet the animals, wander the orchards, or simply relax under the towering gums that border our pastures. For families, couples, and even pets, Cromwell Farms offers a peaceful retreat close to everything that makes this region special – from the beaches of Byron Bay to the waterfalls, markets, and creative communities of the Northern Rivers.
More than just a stay, Cromwell Farms is a living example of what happens when sustainability and hospitality come together. Whether you’re here for a weekend getaway, a longer escape, or an event surrounded by nature, we invite you to share in the beauty and purpose of this land we love.
